2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe
This is the most common Duplex (Austenitic-Ferritic) stainless steel. Its dual structure provides about twice the yield strength of 316L, allowing for significant cost and weight savings through thinner pipe walls. It offers excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion due to its high alloy content (Chromium, Molybdenum, Nitrogen). Most notably, it has superior resistance to Chloride Stress Corrosion Cracking (CSCC), a major advantage over conventional austenitic steels. 2205 is widely used in harsh, chloride-rich environments like Oil and Gas (offshore pipelines), Desalination plants, and Chemical Processing equipment where high strength and corrosion resistance are critical.
